BHRT for Women

Menopause is a time in a woman’s life that is marked by the absence of menstrual periods for 12 months. This physical shift in a woman’s body begins when the ovaries cease the production of eggs and female hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. The ovaries are the primary source of female hormones, which control the development of female body characteristics, regulate the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. As a result many women experience negative side effects of these hormonal changes and face additional long term health risks.

What are the symptoms of Menopause

Menopause can vary greatly depending on the individual. Some women experience few or no symptoms while others experience both physical and psychological symptoms. Many of these symptoms are similar to those women have already experienced during the years leading up to Menopause and is usually when women first begin to experience symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances.

Irregular vaginal bleeding, Hot Flashes & night sweats, Vaginal dryness or itching, Loss of sexual desire, Irritation/and or pain during intercourse, Increased risk of urinary tract infections or urinary incontinence, Fatigue, memory problems and irritability, sleep disturbances, Weight gain, Redistribution of body fat, Changes in skin texture, including wrinkles, acne. Unwanted body hair growth, Low bone density.

Why should Menopause be taken seriously

In addition to the impact that Menopause may have on the quality of life, there are other long-term silent effects associated with Menopause including increased risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.
Bone tissue is constantly being broken down and rebuilt. When more bone tissue is lost than is regenerated, a patient develops osteoporosis. It is common to hear of women suffering from weaker bones, or osteoporosis, after menopause.

Treating Menopause
